Hello NYC people,
Remember those chain letters we used to get as kids. You got a piece of mail, then maybe you were bored enough to make some copies, sent it along to a bunch of your friends, asked them to send it to their friends, too, and on and on the cycle would go.
Well, read this and if it helped you with your ranked voting plans, please forward as an email to your NYC people. Let's make sure we don't get Andrew Cuomo as our mayor!!
[Begin chain letter:]
***There's a super important mayoral election in New York City this year.***
The Democratic primary is coming up on Tuesday, June 24th (early voting June 14th-22nd!)
Here's the all-caps moment: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE CAN DO IS PREVENT ANDREW CUOMO FROM GETTING ELECTED AS OUR MAYOR.
Ranked-choice voting enables us to rank 5 candidates in the Democratic primary who are NOT Cuomo. (Don't rank him at all, not even last!).
Here's who I'm ranking:
Brad Lander (a fave and the choice of my Indivisible political action group- Brooklyn Resisters!)
Zohran Mamdani (another fave!)
Zellnor Myrie
Adrienne Adams
Michael Blake (Thanks Wendy!)
Don't feel like thinking about this any more than the time it took to read this email? Vote using my ranking above. Do you disagree with my ranking? This is (amazingly, still) a democracy, so rank these or the other Democratic candidates however you like.
Here's what to do next:
We need absolutely every single New Yorker you know to make sure that Andrew Cuomo, despite being the name they may most recognize, is the wrong person for this job for so many reasons.
Take these five easy steps:
Step one: Open a new email draft.
Step two: In the body of your email, copy everything in this email starting with the starred statement at the top ("There's a super important mayoral election...").
Step three: Customize your candidate ranking; personalize the email as desired.
Step four: Add every single New Yorker you know to the BCC field (even if you think they may have already received this).
Step five: Hit SEND!
That's it! You did it. Thanks for giving all of us a fighting chance to elect someone the greatest city on earth actually deserves.

Yes, very important we don’t rank Cuomo! Heads up that Ramos has recently endorsed Cuomo and should not be ranked either because of this betrayal to progressives. I humbly recommend Michael Blake - my number 2 pick, I think - who was very impressive during last week’s debate.
